MLB.TV for 2020 Has Been Announced and the Blackouts Are Still Here

MLB.TV Starts Feb. 28, 2020
If you're like me, you're an every year subscriber to MLB.TV. I just got the email this afternoon announcing the return of the streaming service for 2020. Yearly subscribers will auto-renew on February 28th. The price this season is $121.99. If you only care about having access to your favorite team's games you get a single-team subscription for $93.99. If you are a current student or active military, you can qualify for a 35% discount on these prices.

What about the blackouts?


Sadly (but not surprisingly) the blackouts appear to still be in place for this season. There have been some rumblings in the past few months that the blackout restrictions could start going away as early as this year, but the email received today explicitly mentions the blackout restriction policy.

I will stick with the same plan I've been using for years: using Unlocator to get around the blackouts. For more info on this method you can check out my how-to guide.

MLB.TV Blackouts Are Annoying!

I am a huge fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Major League Baseball in general. Because I live away from my home in Southern California while in college, I sign up for MLB.TV every year so that I can see my Dodger games. Normally, the service is great and I have few complaints. However, one thing that I find very annoying is when I am blacked out of a game that I have no way of seeing! Case in point: I go to school in Utah. Utah is zoned by MLB to be blacked out of games played by the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Since both of these teams are in the Dodgers' division, they play games against the Dodgers often. When LA plays Colorado, I simply turn on Fox Sports and I can see the game. However, when the Dodgers play the Diamondbacks, I have no way of watching my team because the Arizona games are not shown on TV in Utah!
